You are going to need a newer version of gnus and maybe emacs.  You are
running Emacs 19.34 wiith Gnus 5.3.  Try upgrading to Gnus 5.5 and consider
an upgrade to Emacs 20.x.

Alternatively, search the mailing list archives for a message posted just
yesterdat regarding coding around gnus-parse-netrc for versions that don't
support that function.
