I've tried it off and on over the last year or so...  It's ok, but I
don't use it frequently as its kind of flaky (and I'm almost always
near a net connection).

One advantage is that it is significantly faster.

I've never figured out what takes so long when entering a folder with
nnimap, but under the agent its really really fast again (comparable
to nnml).  Some of it is due to network traffic (of course), but when
I look at tcpdump output, usually the server responds quickly and it's 
gnus that takes a while to send out the next packet...
