This won't help -- the problem is that Gnus want a list of all the
groups on the server. On a Uwash server at my department, this would
be literally billions and billions of groups.

We can set `gnus-active-file' to nil, but this breaks some other
things like subscribing to mailboxes. I'm thinking about a new *Browse
server* mode for Gnus that would work like a server browse in netscape
(fetching hirarchies when a user clicks on them), this can easily make
use of NAMESPACE.
