It definitely helped.  A lot! But, it's not as fast though and still
has problems.

And, actually, my server seems to keep reverting to (nnimap "server")
from "nnimap:server" too, which is sort of annoying...  I've never
figured out what causes it.  Typically, when I start noticing delays
again the first thing I do is a search and replace in my .newsrc.eld
file to fix this problem...
