I've found a case where the nov cache just kills peformance. Enter a
new group with lots of messages (say 3,000). Delete 2500 of them.
Leave the group. Re-enter the group (don't think you have to quit
gnus). emacs CPU utilization goes through the roof -- I didn't have
the patience to wait. I C-g the entry of the group, remove the nov
cache for that group, then enter the group. I get into the group
immediately.
