assertion failure

I finally did a long overdue upgrade to nnimap 0.97 (from 0.90) and pgnus
0.80 (from 0.66).  That combination has been working wonderfully for me but I 
decided it was to get modernize.  Now, I get the following error when I enter 
my first group.

(1) (error/warning) Error in process filter: (cl-assertion-failed (imap-parse-nil))

(2) (error/warning) Error in process filter: (cl-assertion-failed (imap-parse-nil))

(3) (error/warning) Error in process filter: (cl-assertion-failed (imap-parse-nil))

(4) (error/warning) Error in process filter: (cl-assertion-failed (imap-parse-nil))

(5) (error/warning) Error in process filter: (cl-assertion-failed (imap-parse-nil))

(6) (error/warning) Error in process filter: (cl-assertion-failed (imap-parse-nil))


Subsequent groups do NOT display the problem.  Only the first group entered
from a fresh, virgin, gnus session.

Any ideas?  Anything else I can tell you or send you?
