Maybe I'm a bit negative here,
but wouldn't it make sense to use procmail for UNIX server side
mail splitting.

And `server side' would also imply `on arrival of e-mail'
as opposed to `on connecting to the server',
so the mail splitting wouldn't keep the user waiting.
