No, sorry, the IMAP protocol only give out line counts when the MIME
type is TEXT or MESSAGE.

I'm using this summary line format

(setq gnus-summary-line-format "%U%R%z%I%(%[%4L: %-20,20n%]%) (%c) %s\n")

to give a better estimate of how big the article is.
