Quit emacs, take a backup of .newsrc.eld and remove all metis.alle
occurances (be sure not to corrupt lisp structures) and re-subscribe
to it?  It looks pretty weird.

If you're able to reproduce it after cleaning .newsrc.eld, I'd be
interested in a recipie for doing that.
