hanging after Gcc

I have several folders on the IMAP server tagged in pgnus for Gcc into
that folder. After I send a reply to a message:
- the message is sent to local smtp
- the message composition buffer is updated with message-id
but then XEmacs hangs (I can get it back with C-g).

After enabling debug-on-quit, I got the following backtrace:

Ideas? This is with XEmacs 21.1.7 and pgnus-cvs from a few days ago - but
the problem has been there since at least pgnus-0.97 and nnimap-0.131.
