What do you mean with a "null server name"?

The method field of group parameters can contain either "nnimap:foo"
or (nnimap "foo" ...). Both usually mean the same thing. The first one
is prefeered, and the latter one seem to cause problems.

If you meant having a empty server name, that's no problem. Like
always when changing virtual server names you'll have to unsubscribe
the old group and re-subscribe to them on the new server, but other
than that things should be fine.
