nnimap-split-rule question

Given:

(setq nnimap-split-crosspost t)
(setq nnimap-split-inbox '("INBOX"))
(setq nnimap-split-rule
      '(("duplicates" "^Gnus-Warning:")

        ("lists.debian.\\2"
         "^\\(To\\|Cc\\|CC\\|cc\\):.*debian-\\(.*\\)@lists.debian.org")

        ("mail.misc" "")))

all mail is split just fine, but any mail that matches a rule, like mail from
one of the debian lists, is also placed in mail.misc. Why? Yes, I know I have
crossposting turned on, but my experience with other backends has been that the
only mail that would be placed in mail.misc are those mails *did not* match
*any* pattern.

Thanks,
Tom

P.S. nnimap is way cool! Thanks!
